below is an E-mail I recieved in responce for a request for a lookup
in Cemetery near the Hospital at Tullahoma.
> Robin,
> The cemetery that you are referring to, is now part of Maplewood
> Cemetery, in the southeastern part of the City of Tullahoma.
As you
> stated, it was originally used to bury Confederate Dead, mainly soldiers
> who were at the nearby Confederate Hospital.
> There are 407 graves, each marked with a simple un-named stone. At
the
> entrance, is a memorial, with a large plaque, naming each of them.
> On this plaque, is the name of Sian A. Gatlin, Pvt. Co. K, 1st
Regt.
> Fla. Infantry. Most of the names show complete DOD, abstracted
from the
> Hospital records, but in the case of Mr. Gatlin, it gives only 1863.
A
> few others are like that. I don't know why.
> The cemetery was restored and rededicated in 1995. The local chapter
of
> the Sons of Confederate Vets., did the work, and composed a small
> booklet, listing the dead, and other info about local campaigns,
and
> also the hospital. The booklet is still for sale ($ 7.00, in 1995)
> Elsewhere in the book, it lists Sian A. Gatlin, when and where
he
> enlisted, last muster info, and finally a notation that he was
sick, and
> finally died in the hospital, sometime in March or April, 1863.
>
> If you are interested in the booklet, write:
